"body": "
The year 2020 brought many of us closer in unexpected ways but also showed us how far apart we still remain. Today, we celebrate being freed from slavery in Egypt and remember the hardships we experienced during that time. Even in these events we do not overlook the treatment of the Egyptians via the plagues. We acknowledge these acts and say from them we will not forget and will help others.
\n\n
2020 more than any year before it, starkly showed us the realities that some folks in our communities are experiencing on a daily basis. We heard this year cries for help, screams for assistance to bring an end to racism. The black communities rose up this year much like our ancestors would have done against the Egyptians and showed us their pain, their injustices, and shined a light upon themselves asking the world to educate themselves and be active in their fight.
\n\n
2020 showed us that current events can wake up and reignite racism that has been veiled. Our Asian communities have also experienced increased angry and unjustfied blame for the existence and spread of Covid- 19. They struggle not only with fighting against previous racism but now struggle against one that cannot be defeated with mere facts or actions.
\n\n
Justice is blind, Justice is equal. In 2020 we were shown how quickly the laws can be changed and used as a hammer against people. The people of the LGBQTIA+ community saw how quickly the laws that they had spent decades actively pursuing and getting enacted were overturned. Their cries were also raised and their call for help was brought to our ears.
\n
\n2020 brought us the most deadly and life changing plague, that is some cases has never been seen before. Covid-19 brought back to importance the idea of community and the importance of hand washing and education. Covid forced an isolation that many of us struggled with- we long to have our families and communities back. We will get there. Things are changing.
\n\n
In 2020 we also celebrated the joys of our continued health for our family- it took much tenacity and fortitude but we did it. Our family grew by one with the arrival of Beatrice Ling. She has been the light, laugh, and smile that we needed. We hope in 2021 that this will only increase with the arrival of Lillie Olivia. We will share with them our hopes, our lessons, and work to make the world better and safer.
\n\n
With this gathering at this table let's be grateful for our freedom, celebrate our health, and make commitments to continue to work on ending racism, injustice, and hatred against people.
",

Some in our communities still struggle with this.
\n
\nAt seder it is an opportunity to ask those to come to the table and eat with us. It is also a time to consider how we increase our inclusiveness in our own social circles, how do we work to make everyone at the table have equal access. Fairness and equality do not mean necessarily having equal access it may mean giving more assistance, more resources, and more time to make sure that we all have oppotunities.
\n
\nWe have to be more aware and see not just ourselves and our families but those in our community who need the helping hand. We should be have our ears open, our eyes open, and our hands willing to work.
\n
\nWe should also be willing and unafraid to speak when we ourselves need the help of our family and or community.
",
