Nirtzah: an Explanation by KT students
Nirtzah: an explanation
What what is Nirtzah? It's the last song of a Passover Seder. Why do we sing it? We sing it to wish good luck to Jerusalem for the next year. Also, we sing it to be thankful that we're free. We give thanks on Passover, so we have a song to sing about being thankful that we're free.
On Passover people say that they're thankful for many things. For instance, friends, family, health, belongings, food, and a home. The Nirtzah is giving thanks for 1 thing, freedom. Also, it gives luck to Jerusalem so Israel is safe for the year. Freedom is an important part of Passover. Passover is celebrating the Exodus. The Exodus is when Moses led Jews out of slavery, or in other words Egypt. We give thanks that we're free, the Nirtzah is just a song about it.
