In Jewish tradition, lighting candles and saying a blessing over them marks a time of transition, from the day that is ending to the one that is beginning, from ordinary time to sacred time. As time passes, tolerance and acceptance continue to grow in our community. The orange is a symbol of welcoming to those that may feel marginalized by some members of society. There's room for more symbols on the seder plate — and room for more participants around the seder table. We as the modern Jewish people love and accept empowered women, people with disabilities, intermarried couples, and members of the LGBT Community.</p>\n\n<p>Please pass this orange around the table. Each person should take a segment to eat.
