Au dessu de ma ville (Above my city)
Jerusalem: Yoel’s description of Jerusalem, combines a material view of the city with its spiritual image, as described in certain texts of the Kabala. The city is usually floating in his paintings, as if it is “mounted” to the sky. Yoel believes a likeness of Jerusalem will be created at the end of the world, by God, and will include the third and final temple. All spirituality in the world will come from Jerusalem.
